About Synapse
Synapse is a learning platform for people working through a real course. You bring the lecture slides, the reading, the notes you took badly at nine in the morning, and it turns them into something you can actually study with: explanation you can interrogate, questions that come from your own material, and a schedule that brings the difficult parts back before you forget them.
Two rules the product is built on
The first is that Synapse teaches from your material rather than from general knowledge. An AI that answers from the whole internet is impressive and unhelpful when your exam is set on one specific set of slides. Grounding every answer in what you uploaded is the difference between a chatbot and a tutor for your course.
The second is that no model output reaches you unchecked. Generated questions and structured content pass through code that validates them, not through another model asked politely to be careful. Items that fail are regenerated with the specific problem fed back, and only the ones that pass are shown. It catches malformed output reliably; it cannot catch a confident mistake, which is why the tutor tells you when your material does not contain an answer instead of filling the gap.
Where your work lives
Your course material stays on your device. Documents, slides, conversations, quizzes and progress are held in your browser, or synced to cloud storage you own using credentials encrypted before they reach us. What we keep on our servers is your account and a usage counter, and none of it describes what you are studying.
That choice costs something and it is worth saying so: clear your browser data without connecting storage and the material is gone, because there is no copy of it on our side to restore. The privacy policy spells out exactly what is held where.
Who it is for
University and college students working from lecture decks, people studying for professional exams from a fixed syllabus, and anyone who learns better by being asked questions than by rereading. It assumes you already have the material and want to understand it, rather than looking for material in the first place.
